Holiday Décor Removal and Storage: What Happens After the Lights Go Out

The Magic Doesn’t End When the Season Does

By mid-January, the festive music fades and the gingerbread cookies have all been eaten, but what about the lights, wreaths, and garland that brought your home to life all season long?

At Margie Mae’s Holiday Decor, we believe post-holiday care should feel just as seamless and stress-free as the installation. That’s why our all-inclusive service doesn’t end when the power switch flips off; it continues through professional removal, careful packing, and off-site storage until next season.

Because a luxury holiday experience should never leave you climbing a ladder in January.

What Happens After the Holidays End?

Once the calendar turns and your guests have gone home, our removal and storage process begins. Here’s how we wrap up the season with the same white-glove care that made your home shine:

1. Pre-Scheduled Removal
You’ll never need to guess—or call to find out—when we’re coming. At the time of booking, we schedule your takedown in advance, typically between January 2 and January 25. You’ll receive a courtesy notification a few days before hand, so you know exactly when to expect our team. Need a specific date? Just let us know.

2. Gentle Removal by Trained Technicians
Our licensed and insured team removes each décor element with precision and care. From rooftop lights to yard displays and second-story garlands, every piece is handled with the same attention we gave during installation.

3. Professional Packing On-Site
All decorations are packed using our custom storage methods and protective bins, no tangled wires or cracked bulbs here. Whether it’s fiberglass statues, lit wreaths, or ribboned staircase garlands, each item is preserved to perfection.

4. Secure Climate-Controlled Storage
The décor is transported to our dedicated warehouse, where it’s stored safely and securely until next season. Our climate-controlled environment ensures everything stays pristine and ready to shine again next year.

From First Call to Final Sparkle: A Full-Service Holiday Experience

For many of our clients, the journey begins with a single question: “Is it too early to book?” (It’s not.)

That’s how one Scottsdale homeowner first reached out mid-July, after spotting our wreaths in a friend’s gallery photo. “I’ve always done it myself,” she said. “But this year, I want it to feel special and stress-free.”

From that moment, our team took care of everything.

We scheduled her Holiday Design Consultation within days. One of our expert decorators visited her home, listened to her vision, and crafted a customized lighting plan—warm white C-9s across the roofline, palm tree wraps in champagne gold, a grand wreath for the arched entry, and garland woven with ribbon to echo her interior palette.

Come November, our licensed crew arrived on the dot, exactly when scheduled. The installation was done with precision, no disruption to her schedule, no tools left behind just a home transformed into a peaceful holiday retreat.

When a strand blinked out during a December storm? Our in-season maintenance team was there the next day. No charge. No stress.

And then, in January, she glanced out her window and watched our team begin the removal.

“The moment they took it all down, I realized how effortless it had been, start to finish. I didn’t lift a finger.”
